Elimination of Bus Fees and Increases to Home-To-School Busing

The bus pass requirements have been a growing burden on the families of the District. Currently the District charges $520.00 per student for transportation services. This fee was implemented during the recession of 1992 in attempt to offset the rising encroachment of school transportation on the general fund for the District.

With the Board’s actions parents will no longer be required to pay fees to receive home-to-school transportation. In addition, the no transportation area for the elementary levels will be adjusted to 2.0 miles and the secondary levels will be adjusted to 4.5 miles. These changes will help lift the burden on numerous families, increase the students eligible for transportation service and ultimately increase the number of students transported by the District.
