Firefighter and former student, Thomas Ibarra visits Winchester Elementary School

Students collected donations for the firefighters and further showed their appreciation by making thank you cards and posters. Thomas was also able to visit his first grade Teacher, Ms. Fuller. In the story photo, Thomas is holding a photo of himself back when he was a first grade student in her class. He recalled being in kindergarten and visiting the fire station down the street from Winchester School and knowing immediately that he wanted to grow up to be a firefighter. When asked about how remarkable Thomas’s story is, Principal Dana Childs-Mazzei reflected on a quote from Henry B. Adams, “a teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” Students enjoyed their visit with their very own hero!

We join the Winchester School community in saying, "THANK YOU" to Firefighter Ibarra and all the brave firefighters who helped keep our community safe.
